The team here at Quest Dental Care are so pleased you’ve decided to go on your Invisalign journey with us, you’ve going to have the smile of your dreams before you know it! But to make sure that your treatment plan goes as smoothly as possible we’ve put together a care guide so you have all the key information you need for cleaning and caring for your Invisalign in Ipswich.

Cleaning

There’s two really important elements to cleaning your Invisalign in Ipswich and you can’t be successful in maintaining your Invisalign with just one.

First – Cleaning Your Teeth

Now, we’re sure you are very aware by now that one of the major benefits of Invisalign is that they are completely removable and that they are fantastic for keeping on top of your oral hygiene routine. Why is this important? Well, oral hygiene is number one priority even with Invisalign in Ipswich being worn but when you are it’s so important that you are cleaning deep down into the gum line and getting rid of all the bad build of bugs of bacteria. The team here finds it’s very common for those who are undergoing orthodontic treatment to finish the treatment with early signs of gum disease. And though this is totally curable, wouldn’t it be just best to avoid in the first place?

Good Oral Health Practices

I’m just going to talk you through the basics for this blog but you should be…

Brushing teeth a minimum of twice daily for at least two minutes.

Using dental floss between all your teeth.

Attending regular check ups with us at Quest Dental Care.

Second – Cleaning Your Invisalign

Cleaning your Invisalign is actually super simple and shouldn’t take much time at all. It’s really important that you commit to cleaning it every day as you’ll quickly notice the build up of plaque and tartar on the surface of the appliance and you really don’t want to be putting a germ ridden thing back in your mouth everyday!

How To Clean

Take a non-electric soft bristle toothbrush (ideally with a small head) and put a tiny bit of white/clear toothpaste on it. Then run along the line of the Invisage not using too much pressure as you don’t want to break the appliance. Once you’ve cleaned the whole surface area run under cold water to rinse.

Top Tips For Better Care

If you want to take your Invisalign care to the next level you could invest in some cleaning crystals or tablets. These are dissolvable products that you leave your trays in to help remove all the germs and give the trays back their crystal clear shine.

Always carry a hard box and travel toothbrush. You should aim to clean your teeth after every meal when using Invisalign and you should ALWAYS rinse your aligners under water when you put them back in so having a hard case box to protect  them with you is always a really handy tool.
