NERVOUS PATIENTS

At Quest Dental Care, we treat a number of nervous patients. Putting off trips to the dentist can lead to preventable issues like gum disease and tooth loss. We believe dental phobia shouldn’t cause dental health to suffer, so we try and make your visit to our practice in Ipswich as comfortable as possible.

Our dentists are trained to make you feel comfortable, and rest assured you will not be judged in any shape or form when you step in to our practice. We understand patients have different fears so we have a number of techniques to make you feel as safe and at ease as possible. We can organise appointments at the start of the day, or arrange a friendly chat between you and the dentist before your appointment to discuss any issues or worries you may have. We can also arrange music, Netflix or Amazon Prime to play to help relieve anxiety. If there’s anything else you believe could help, don’t hesitate to let us know.

SEDATION

We also offer dental sedation which is completely safe and can help to calm and relax nervous patients. Dental sedation may also be a good option for those nervous or hesitant about undergoing long or complicated dental procedures. Any dental treatments can be performed with dental sedation, no matter how big or small, so don’t hesitate to reach out to a member of our friendly team if you feel sedation could help your experience at our practice.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

In order for us to provide a treatment plan, an initial full oral examination is necessary. It helps both the dentist and patient to get a better understanding of their dental health, as well as screen for oral cancer.

Our helpful staff will welcome you to the practice. You will have the opportunity to discuss with your dentist any questions or concerns. Your dentist will undertake a thorough oral examination before discussing a treatment plan, should any treatment be recommended.

If you’re nervous about visiting the dentist either due to previous bad experiences with dentists or dental treatments you may be a good candidate for dental sedation. Similarly, if you have a gag reflex or have difficulty controlling movements, sedation may prove useful. We recommend you discussing your fears or concerns with your dentist or a member of the team prior to your visit. What’s important, is that you don’t delay dental treatment over dental phobia – we are here to help and listen.
