CROWNS

TREATMENT FROM £750

TREATMENT OVERVIEW

ABOUT THIS TREATMENT

Dental Crowns are used to rebuild teeth which have been damaged, lost structure or been broken or weakened by decay. Crowns can also be used if you wish to replace discoloured fillings, and are common after root canal treatment.

Crowns are the visible part of the tooth above the gum line. An artificial tooth-shaped ceramic crown is an excellent way of strengthening and protecting the natural tooth. A crown is often made of tooth coloured material and can improve the appearance of a smile.

We offer three types of crowns at Quest Dental Care: full metal crowns, PMF crowns (porcelain fused to metals), and all porcelain crowns.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS TREATMENT

This depends on the type of crown fitted. With good oral health, crowns tend to last between 7-10 years, sometimes longer.

At Quest Dental Care in Ipswich, we offer three types of dental crowns: full metal crowns, PMF crowns (porcelain fused to metals) and all porcelain crowns.

An all porcelain crown is the most aesthetically pleasing replacement for a natural tooth. We almost always recommend an all porcelain crown to our patients.

A full metal crown is incredibly durable and therefore isn’t prone to chipping or breaking easily. As it isn’t as aesthetically pleasing as an all porcelain crown, this crown is more suited out of sight (for molars or back teeth.) It can endure the bite pressure and grinding of teeth – perfect for molars.

A PMF crown is a fusion of porcelain and metal, providing a tooth coloured crown but with the durability of a metal crown. A metal alloy forms the inner core while multiple layers of porcelain give the outer shell to the dental crown.
